Spiritually Transforming Animal Experiences
In early 1983, while studying shamanism with Grandpa Roberts, a Cherokee, in Forestville, CA, he let me sleep with his White Buffalo pelt. The White Buffalo ceremony was a great honor for him, as this was for me. Truly it was a very large light brown soft robe. Inside the yurt, swaddled in his bison cloak, I felt as though I was embraced by a gargantuan heart. This magic dreamtime allowed me to gain inner strength as I was transported to other-worldly places in my dreams. I understand now that that enabled me to change my consciousness to a heart-based practice with everything I do. Whenever I have Buffalo dreams there is a deeply rooted message and I take note.

Owls and Hawks
My other totem animals are owls and hawks. They have always been my totems, and were introduced to me in my shamanism studies while journeying. Since then they have given me signs, appearing at significant times and accompanying me in my dreams.

Alchemical transformation
In 1981, I was receiving massage in San Francisco, with the intent to alleviate the severe, stabbing shoulder and upper back pains. When this area was touched, I was taken back to paleolithic times. I saw myself trapped in a cave, wearing animal robes. As I peered more deeply, I saw that I was near a cliff edge, and pacing around the dark space was a black panther. We were in a face-off. I came back to myself on the massage table, presuming that was how I died. For the next several days I saw this large black cat everywhere in a waking dream state, in the seat of my truck next to me, in my loft, everywhere imaginable. I think I gained the strength of that cat, and could see myself in a throne with the panther at my side.

Another time, in 1982,  I saw the same healer, now an artist in Santa Barbara (see some of Lynn's animal + spiritual paintings - http://www.essenceartworks.com -  I was taken back to another lifetime. I saw myself emerging from my tepee as animals gathered around me coming for healings. Once again I was tressed in animals skins.

On the full moon in December 2006, I was in Kahalo, Hawaii, on the way to a full-moon-day swim with the dolphins. I did a ceremony in the early morn and invited the energy of the manta rays in, asking if I could play with them during the day, rather than go on another night manta ray dive. I asked permission to swim with some manta rays AND dolphins in our journey, rather than just dolphins. The captain said it was very rare and about ten years ago, they saw a few during the day. Lo and behold a dozen appeared and I got to swim within six inches of these magnificent creatures. They actually swim near us, not the other way around, truth be told. I was in the middle of a freeway of manta rays, their wing span 6 feet above me, below me, to the front and back ahead and behind me, creating a beautiful 3-D cross. They look like beings from outerspace and are rather eerie at this close distance, yet their timidness easily transforms one's impression into beauty and magnificence.

Then a couple dozen dolphins graced us with their presence. On the way back to the dock we saw a humpback whale! 

The Infinity Symbol made by Bats
I remember the cosmic date as It was August 8th, 1998 and I went for a walk in a San Rafael, CA neighborhood looking for a symbol, requesting balance in my life. It was nearing sunset and up ahead in the eucalyptus trees, I noticed a swarm of bats. One flew out and circled over my head, creating an infinity symbol enroute to the trees again. Then, another bat flew out, in the same dance-like pattern, creating another infinity symbol or “Figure 8” pattern with its flight. This continued until all eight of them danced in front and over me. Infinity symbol to the power of three!

In the winter of 2005, we swam at Honaunau, Hawaii. In the morning the dolphin pod of 26 were all sleeping except the leader. While I rested in the Bay they created a 3-D star around me in their swim pattern. This lasted for over 30 minutes.

On another occasion, while out snorkeling one mile from shore, the alpha leader of 17-member pod checked us out. The babies and mama followed as I radiated the "Mary" energy; the baby swam next to me eye-to-eye.

February 26, 1998 Total Solar Eclipse in the Carribbean, off Montserrat
During the four-minute eclipse, I saw five planets, two humpback whales breach in unison facing each other, as the volcano Montserrat blew. The beautiful and awe-inspiring Bailys' Beads and Diamond Ring effect appeared in all of their glory around the sun.

December 10, 2005/ The Dolphin Experience
While in Waikaloa, Hawaii, I dreamt of bringing a group of visitors to a wilderness area with Yosemite’s Half Dome in the background. I was leading a tour to power places. I called in the animals. The wolves appeared and began to howl, then water buffalo; next came loud, bellowing tule elk; and next magnificent thick-maned lions appeared.

I thought it boded well for being with animals, as I awoke to greet my day, planning to spend the morning enjoying a dolphin adventure.

Captain Neptune’s, who created http://www.dolphinville.com for the Dolphin communities of Hawaii, HI, took several of us out to swim with dolphins in his specially designed boat. The waves were a little choppy, with three-foot swells. It was winter, which means high surf and wave season. But the sight of the largest pod of dolphins I had ever seen called me. I headed towards the clouds of water, where the dolphins seemed to gravitate. I called in the Four Archangels and Metatron (my spiritual guides) and soon dolphins appeared in front of me, to both sides of me, underneath and behind me. They excitedly echoed their electronic-sounding “Thank you.” I sent the elegant ocean creatures angel energy from my heart chakra, entranced by their pink bellies, the grey tones of their bodies, and their magical, mesmerizing presence. The pod captured my eyes with their whimsical, playful smiles and knowing eyes. This went on for many, many minutes. They darted and swam in a swirling vortex in a counter-clockwise direction beneath and around me, as I felt the group was radiating the angelic energy and light. We joined together in an angelic vortex of light and love! Truly this is how I sense and feel angels – in a swirling funnel of energy and movement around me and through me. This experience was celestial, yet also other-worldly heart-love from the water angels themselves – the dolphins. We were communicating with the angels together!

Next I called in Mary Magdalene and Mother Mary to join us, with whom I also mediate. I beamed the healing energy of the robes of love from the “Two Marys” from my heart to the dolphins. Then I looked around me and noticed that the scenery had changed and there was a shift in the positions of the dolphins – now the baby and mommy dolphins surrounded me. We rollicked and I floated on all sides, spinning like a human dolphin waving my feet up and down as if I were a mermaid-dolphin myself. I was marveling at the buoyancy of us all together, swimming in unison like a family, noticing the awe-inspiring sparkling waters, the sunlight beneath the surface and the underside of the rippling dinosaur-like texture of the waves in the wind. The dolphins would spin underneath and atop the water as we traveled together. We were One in this liquid vortex of love.

Later, the captain told us there were 150 dolphins in the pod and I was in the water for two and one half hours swimming with them. It seemed like a short while that we were together, as if I had transcended all human/earthl/linear concepts of time.

The Great White Owl, August 1982, Desolation Wilderness, CA  
I chose our camping spot by dowsing with a crystal, picking a spot on the map and turning it over - it was Pyramid Lake. (My favorite meditation symbol is a pyramid.) While camping and picking up firewood to cook dinner with, I searched the meadow for dried wood. In the distance appeared a three foot long white vision, like an angel, yet it was a bird. The wingspan seemed 6 feet. As it neared me, my jaw dropped as I was speechless. I thought its feet would touch my head as it flew over me. I could not call to my partner as I was awestruck. He did not believe I could see such a large bird, and an owl at that, in the daytime.

Years later I saw a special on PBS - http://www.pbs.org - about the rarest and one of the largest owls in the world - The Great White, that flew from Canada to Desolation Wilderness in the summers. It was unusual because of its size, and it's uncanny habit of hunting in the day (in meadows, of course.)

Kissed by a whale

April of 1989,  I had a dream that I was lying on my belly, chin in palms, supported by elbows, looking down over an oceanside cliff. A humpback whale jumped up and kissed me!

One month later on Maui, Hawaii with my mother, we went on a whale-watching trip. The Pacific Whale Foundation (http://www.pacifcwhalefoundation.org) boat captain let us know that it would not be easy to see one, as late May is very late in the migration season.

Well, while we were craning our necks to possibly get a glimpse of a lone large ocean creature,  I did my little healing, sending loving vibrations from my heart and a mama whale and her baby came up and “kissed the boat” right next to the side I was on. They crew had never seen such a thing before in the last ten years of viewing. The crew looked over to me as I had shared my story earlier (and I never had seen a whale before, except in my dream)!

It is actually a regulation to stay 150 yards away from the protected animal, but if the whale approaches the boat, what are you going to do?
